Kim So Hyun Reveals She Focused More On Portraying Emotions Than Action Scenes In ‘River Where the Moon Rises’

Kim So Hyun opened up about her character and the hard work behind playing it in KBS 2TV’s upcoming historical drama ‘River Where the Moon Rises.’

‘River Where the Moon Rises’ tells the story of Princess Pyeonggang (played by Kim So Hyun) who embarks on the journey of becoming the first female to lead Goguryeo. Ji Soo stars as Ondal, a peace-loving and kind-hearted man who falls in love with Princess Pyeonggang and helps her establish the status of Goguryeo.

The previously released teasers of the drama have already given us an insight that Kim So Hyun would be involved in some intense action scenes. Talking about learning how to properly use a sword, Kim So Hyun revealed, “It was my first time using a sword, so I watched a lot of action videos involving sword fighting, and I asked and learned a lot from stunt actors.”

Kim So Hyun further added that her character required dealing with various emotions at the same time, so she had to focus more on her acting part than the action scenes. “I had to play with different emotions, so I did a lot of research on how to express my emotions better. I paid the most attention to the acting part,” mentioned Kim So Hyun.

Written by Han Ji Hoon and helmed by director Yoon Sang Ho, ‘River Where the Moon Rises’ premieres on February 15 at 9:30 p.m. KST.
