Choi Woo Shik Talks About His Chemistry With Kim Da Mi Ahead Of ‘Our Beloved Summer’ Premiere

Choi Woo Shik and Kim Da Mi are reuniting for the first time in three years since the movie ‘The Witch!’

On December 1, at the production media conference of SBS TV’s Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Our Beloved Summer,’ Choi Woo Shik and Kim Da Mi talked about the drama, their reunion, chemistry and more.

Talking about meeting for the first time, Woo Shik revealed, “From the beginning, we got along very well, and it seemed like we became Choi Woong (Choi Woo Shik[character from Our Beloved Summer]) and Yeon-su (Kim Da Mi). Whenever I didn’t do the lines according to the script, Kim Da Mi immediately corrected me. It felt like I was just talking with Da Mi while acting.”

“When filming ‘Witch,’ there were more actions than dialogue. We had to win and hurt each other, but now we met with completely different chemistry. I had a lot of willpower,” he added.

On the other end, Kim Da Mi also shed light on working with Woo Shik after three years. “I agree with him that we got along very well. Even though we met after 3 years, it was so comfortable that I couldn’t feel how the time passed. The fact that Woo Shik was a part of this project was a big reason for me joining this work,” she said.

Talking about her character, Kim Da Mi added, “I played a lot of strong characters in the previous work, so I wanted to play a realistic character. I read the script and it was fun. The character seemed realistic, and I tried to do it naturally without setting many things.”

‘Our Beloved Summer’ is a coming-of-age story about a couple who broke up with a promise to never meet again, but are forced to come together again when a documentary they shot in high school goes viral. The series depicts their complicated feelings and growth.

Directed by Kim Yoon Jin with screenplay by Lee Na Eun, ‘Our Beloved Summer’ will air every Monday and Tuesday on December 6 at 10 PM KST.
